Hitting the road, we once again headed north experiencing both stretches of bitumen in between long stretches of dirt road with lots of dust - some recently graded and some pretty rough! We stopped for fuel at Archer River Roadhouse with cattle roaming around outside. A very dry and dusty area.

The fuel pumps in some of these outback places are pretty old and in some cases are not connected to the office so someone has to come out and read the amount on the bowser! The price of fuel was $2 per litre.........How Much??????

Terry checked out once again the problem we were having with the inner hub cap on the trailer. The outer cap was fine but the inner one kept coming off due to the very rough roads. Unfortunately the one we had been given in Coen did not fit tightly enough and had once again come off rattling around & without it we risked dust getting into the bearings.

Everyone on the road in these remote places is so helpful. Three guys on motorbikes rode in and came over to offer Terry assistance with his repairs. Everyone is so relaxed, friendly and helpful.

Plenty of space to camp and oh joy! green grass under-foot - lovely to leave the dust behind for a while!

Very few other campers apart from a group of mates from Weipa here for a quad bike ride in the bush. No net or phone here so we are still cut off from the outside world. The newly- installed facilities in the form of dongas were very good -clean and spacious - luxury!!
There were two gorgeous little dogs in the enclosure behind us - a Jack Russell and a Beagle. They belonged to the manager.
As we arrived early in the day we enjoyed a delicious pie for lunch followed by an ice block - a luxury out here as all ice cream is expensive in the outback. We then spent a relaxing afternoon before enjoying a lovely hot shower and an early dinner. Dinner is available from the roadhouse but has to be pre-ordered.
